In Search Of Sally Bowles
Berlin is one of the most interesting cities I have ever visited. I feel there's this vibe in there that's hard to ascertain. Jeff says there is an air of darkness, like the whole city is clouded with a sort of darkened aura that would be hard for it to shake off. I cannot help but think of Isherwood's Berlin when I was walking the streets. I asked our guide where the original kit Kat Club was and he was stumped. He told me that most of Isherwood's Berlin was really not in Berlin, but in Schonberg, which is the next town over. But I still couldn't help but look for Sally Bowles. And I think I saw her in one of the street corner, getting ready to sing "Maybe This Time."
